If you're looking for a high tech U.S. built high speed road bike with upright handlebars and a frame built with its tubes cut to size with a state of the art plasma arc cutter instead of a milling machine.

Then you'll want to check out the Cannondale Road Warrior 800 road bike.

The Cannondale 800 has a rigid aluminum frame, rugged tires and is good for city commuters. The Cannondale 800 can also be used as a touring bike, for fun, as well as transportation.

If you are a traditionalist, then you probably will not want the upright bars and if you are a soft rider, then you probably will not want the rigid fork.

The tires are big enough to get you through a pothole without falling and are very well known for their responsive feel.

To make the bike lighter, the Cannondale's Slice Ultra All Conditions fork is not a suspension fork. But the comfort you lose from not having a suspension fork, you will gain back by standing on the pedals when bumps approach and will make you pay more attention while you're riding.

While the city streets get rougher each year, the stock 700 x 32 C Continental tires are ideal. Their air volume cushions road buzz before it reaches the rider and makes the bike much more rugged overall.

If you would prefer to give up some of that reliability to go a little bit faster, then there are skinnier tires that are readily available.

The 39 1/2 inch wheelbase is short enough to keep the bike alert and very responsive and the head tube angle is relaxed just enough (72 degrees in the large frame size) to give the bike easygoing handling.

The Cannondale 800 frames geometry is the same type that you would find on a classic European-design long-distance randonneur riding bike. It's right at the midpoint between a touring bike and a twitchy racing bike.

If you are looking for a bike with a suspension fork or dropped handlebars, you will probably want a bike that already comes with those features.

For someone who wants upright bars, a rigid fork, and high-quality frame and components, then the Cannondale 800 is an excellent candidate.
